Infantry Squad Leader’s Course (ISLC) is the best course that the Marine Corps has to offer. Above Sergeant’s course or any other course out there. The physical challenges are harder than Ranger School, the leadership challenges are more intense than Infantry Officer’s Course (in my humble opinion), and the experience is life changing.
The instructor staff that I had as a part of class 2-08 were outstanding, and I still hold them in high regard. I learned a great deal while in this course including:
- Operations Planning
- Leadership and Management
- Orders writing and giving
- Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures
- Infantry Strategy
- Use of Combined Arms
- Team building
There was so much more that I learned, and a great deal of it effected me as a Man, and as a Marine. I highly recommend this course to all of my Infantry Brothers in Arms to take as soon as the opportunity knocks. Just because you were tasked as a Squad leader, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t attend this course. I requested to take this course as a part of my Re-enlistment incentive, and I thank God for having me go through it. I can’t speak highly enough about it.
